Biography:
I first knew I wanted to be a dentist when I was 13 years old watching my dentist's hands working on me through the reflection in his glasses. I just knew right then and there that this was exactly what I wanted to be when I grew up! I have never regretted that decision one bit! I love dentistry and my ability to use the talents that God has blessed me with is one that I do not take for granted. I honestly want to help all of my patients get the best that dental care can offer. I want to always treat them the same way I would want to be treated if I was the one receiving treatment, so no less than the best will do.
I was born and raised in Kennett, Missouri and graduated from Kennett High School in 1986. I received my undergraduate degree from Arkansas State University in 1991 and attended University of Louisville School of Dentistry from 1992-1996. Following my graduation, I moved to Cherokee Village to work as an Associate Dentist for the next two years, eventually buying the practice in 1998. In 2004, I built the state-of-the-art facility that we are in today.
I am a member of the American Dental Association, NE Arkansas Dental Association, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Orthodontic Society and Doctors of Conscious Sedation. I continually strive for self-improvement through continuing education and advanced training courses as well.
I became a General and Family Dentist because I love all the different aspects of this field. I especially love creating beautiful, lifelong smiles for patients and am excited about the exciting new, cosmetic procedures that are possible now. My passion for rejuvenating smiles started when I was a senior in dental school and working in a well-established dental lab. During this time, I was in charge of trimming the "dies" which are used to make crowns, bridges, veneers, etc. I would sometimes trim between 50-100 dies a night. What this training did for me was to allow me to value the importance of proper planning and preparing of the teeth for cosmetic procedures. Not only did I get real-world training, but I also learned which materials were best to use in each situation. This training enabled me to see a patient's smile from the clinical level as well as the behind-the-scenes, fabrication lever. It is a definite advantage for achieving long-term results!
I was lucky to have studied under the influential Dentist, Dr. Bob Gerety who is world renowned for his orthodontic techniques. This opened the door for me to participate in the Invisalign training which I have used in my own practice since it first became public in 1999. I also especially enjoyed the opportunity of learning dental implant methods from the great Dr. Russ Baer, the team dentist for the Greater Chicago Area's professional teams. Both of these gentlemen have had a very large impact on me and I am forever grateful for their time.
Working with my hands and maintaining attention to fine detail has given me another focus – making custom, collectible, wooden duck calls. So, whether I am at the office creating beautiful, new smiles or at home making a one-of-a-kind duck call to be handed down for generations, you can be sure I am giving 100% attention and dedication to my work.
